A Little way to Give Back

As the owner of Forest Shadows, God has blessed me to be a part of such a wonderful giving community. I feel that it is always important to give back to the community and help others that are in need. We participate in several community events each year to help the community.

Special Needs Students/Adults

We work with Magnolia High School and their special needs students training program. We were helping the students to learn job skills in a work environment. The students come daily as a group in six week
program. As a reward for their effort each day, they played with the dogs in our small dog daycare program. We also work with Magnolia High School and New Danville to help provide jobs for special needs students/adults.

Mutt Strutt and Dog Day Afternoon

Each year we are a large sponsor of the Mutt Strutt. This event helps to raise funds for the Montgomery Humane Society. The humane society promotes the humane treatment of animals by providing shelter, care, adoptions, spay/neuter programs and community education. They do not have any governmental funding.

Other Community Activites

  • We have also held an adoption day at Forest Shadows to help get these loving animals into homes.
  • Food and Beds for Our Less Fortunate Furry Friends
  • During the holidays, we have a food, bed and toy drive for the Montgomery Humane Society.
Montgomery Pet Partners
Giving Back to Others through Pet Therapy

The owner, Kimberly Brinkman, has two dogs that are rated at the “complex level” through a national organization called Delta Society. She has the privilege of taking her dogs into hospitals, retirement homes, schools and rehabilitation clinics to help with therapy, visiting patients and students. Studies show that when pets are used in hospitals that the recovery time is much quicker and brings down the amount of mediations taken in retirement homes. The Montgomery Pet Partners, Inc. (MPP) are volunteers in combination with pets who are committed to enhancing the quality of life in individuals through the human-animal bond, the naturally occurring affectionate connection between people and pets. Spring Bark

Annually we are a sponsor for Spring Bark which is put on by the community Woodlands Dog Park Club. This event is to benefit neglected and homeless companion animals in our county, the rescue groups and shelters in our community. It is a Pledge Walk event with over 400 walkers.
